I am located in Langdon (about 25 min east of Calgary), Alberta, Canada and have been living and working here for
about 6 years now.
I have been enjoying myself with developing al sorts of systems and applications
based on the .NET framework, as you can read in the following paragraphs.
PenKnife Studio Ltd / Smart-Quotes Linited
My last contract was with a company call PenKnife Studio, a local software solution
company who were looking for a senior .NET developer for a client in the U.K.
As the lead .net developer for
Smart-Quotes Limited, the client, I developed various tools in addition
to and in replacement of their mission critical system. Most of the tools and components
involved data gathering and manipulation in XML using XSLT.
I was responsible for the full development life cycle from requirements definition
through design, development, testing and implementation.
Greg Burman, the President of PenKnife Studio Ltd made the following statement:
"The systems Wouter developed greatly improved the efficiency and scalability of
key media delivery systems and reduced administrative requirements in several areas
while maintaining the high level of stability and availability necessary for the
client's mission-critical systems."
North West Group
I also worked for North West Group.
North West Group is a leading aerial data acquisition company dedicated
to providing high quality aerial mapping and related spatial data services to engineering
and mapping firms, environmental consulting firms, government agencies and other
organizations that use aerial imagery.
As their lead .net developer I designed, developed and implemented their data tracking
system from the ground up. This data tracking system matches the acquired flight
data to the proposed project to accurately display the current status of the project
in a near real-time situation. This system is used internally and by the clients
of North West Group.
The complex calculations are independently processed by windows services which receive
the information through the use of Microsoft Message Queue’s. SQL Server 2000 is
the database server of choice as the backend database. The database design, creation
and maintenance also fell under my responsibility.
Flyersoft Inc
Flyersoft Inc is my own company, as you can see I am fully incorporated
and have been since September 1999.
I started out developing web applications in classic ASP with a MS Access or MS
SQL Server backend. When the first public beta of the .NET framework came along
I fully emerged myself in this new technology and became rapidly known for my .NET
knowledge with other web design studios.
Patty Burgess Brecht, President of Safe Cosmetic Surgery, one of my clients made
the following statement:
"I was immediately impressed Wouter's ability grasp my needs, synthesize many details
and information new to him about my industry, offer innovative ways to create what
I had been told was "not possible" and to systematically bring to life the business
that I had visualized."
Before Flyersoft Inc
I have been working on other type of projects which included development in AutoCAD
and document management systems, specifically for the engineering industry. However
that is all in the past now although old knowledge always comes in handy sooner
or later.
